There will be a reduced timetable on Wightlink’s Lymington – Yarmouth route tomorrow (Friday) because of the need to undertake an engine replacement on Wight Sky.
The vessel is in need of an engine replacement forcing a host of cancellations on the cross-Solent route.

A Wightlink spokesperson has said:
“We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause. This action is necessary to ensure that our car ferry service is operated to the highest possible standard.”

It’s a quiet time of the year for this greedy company, they were all running fine during the first lock down in 2020….Then filled their boat’s up with people in December 2020 when the island was tear 1, then we became tear 4 within a few days, suddenly after the invaders left, they stopped most of the boats…..Disgusting company….

This wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest to be honest, they don’t look after them. I know someone in the marine industry and the word on the street is that they just don’t look after them.
I think even Volvo were baffled that they had so many issues until they arranged their own engineers to visit and were horrified at what they found.

Personally I feel now has come the time for a fixed link , we are constantly let down by the ferry companies not to mention the prices ! I am born bred 4th generation islander and use to think it would ruin the island but now I can see the benefits
What the problem with the 3rd boat then? If the sky is out surely the sun or light should be taking its place. Yet again wightlink show profit over service. Joke of a company.

I thought they had three vessels for this route. Certainly seen one parked up in Lymington whilst two were in service.
Ticket prices will have to go up to pay for the new engine. Anyone know how much?
