Alamo in Ryde is set to close its doors for good after 12 years in business, due to the ‘current climate’.
The popular bar and grill, which first opened on Castle Street before relocating to the former ‘Blaze’ premises on the Esplanade, will shut for the final time on Saturday 21st March.
In a message shared with customers, owners Sam and Dan confirmed the closure marks the end of an emotional journey spanning more than a decade – and that the decision to shut up shop has been a difficult one.
The statement reads:
“We regret to inform you that we will be shutting our doors for the last time on Saturday 21st March.
“This decision hasn’t come lightly but with today’s current climate we have decided to step away and focus on our family.”
The pair have paid tribute to their staff, describing them as a ‘wonderful team’ who have supported the business throughout, referring to them as the ‘Alamo Family’.
They have also thanked friends, family and loyal customers for their continued support over the years.
Reflecting on their time running the business, they added that the past 12 years had been filled with hard work, alongside ‘laughter and memories’.
The closure follows a challenging period for the business, which in December 2024 received a 1-star food hygiene rating. The business currently holds a 3-star rating.

Once again massive thanks to Kier Racheal and Richard Quigley. Labour is not working. Small businesses being anialated by clueless Liebor policies.
Fully agree with you
They are sinking the UK at a alarming rate
All part of the new world order.
Whereas the previous 14 years were a massive success?
They may have not been great but this lot are a million times worse. Hopefully Starmer gone after may council elections masacure and Liebor calling a general election in 2026 or 27 in total chaos.
His Davos bosses won’t let him go anywhere.
Genuinely mental how these people can’t fathom how the Tories could be to blame despite their reign of terror
Literally nothing to do with the current government. ALL parties are cut from the same cloth.
Massive increase nearly100% in buisness rates 20%increase in employers national insurance with starting level reduced by thousands. Electricity and gas prices through the roof and anyone apart from those on benefits with less cash in there pockets all since Liebor came to power! How can I run a small buisness with extra costs like these think before you postPS.
That is very true, they all report to the same Davos boss.
By the way this means less business rates less income tax less national insurance being paid in and more unemployment Jobseeker’s Allowance being paid out no wonder Labour is sailing this country up the creek without a paddle. Labour like the Titanic holed below the waterline but taking an eternity to sink.
Very true sooner labour out the better
Universal basic income will be the future.
Since when was consistent issues with health and safety compliance “the current climate”?
There’s also the knock on effect.
Their suppliers loose buisiness too for instance the local butcher who supplied them have now lost a regular customer and a regular income from them
That is very true.
Poor scores didn’t help the cause.
I personally don’t go anywhere with less than a 4 star rating.
Hygiene is imperative.
Yeah hygiene is important, but acting like that’s the whole reason is a stretch. They’re literally saying ‘current climate’, rising costs, lower footfall, everything going up. A rating alone doesn’t shut a place down after 12 years.
It doesn’t help matters, some people look at the
scores on the doors.
If a business is not showing their scores it’s obvious
they are a filth hole and any business with less than a
4 will not be getting mine or my families custom.
There are no excuses for low scores.
Hygiene is imperative
Well you all voted for that Starmer you all now only have four years by the time that comes your country will be nothing, Cesspit Britain get out while you can.
Well done labour another one bites the dust.
