Police and paramedics have been called to a road traffic collision on a country lane in Apse Heath this afternoon (Friday).
The incident has occurred on Apse Manor Road – a narrow lane that runs between Ventnor Road and Shanklin Road.
Emergency service crews were called to the scene shortly after 14:30.
Island Echo understands that the incident has seen a motorcycle and a van collide with one another. The motorcyclist has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital with an ankle injury.
Police have closed the road at both junctions, with the closure to remain in place for some time due to a fluid spill on the carriageway.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Bloody van drivers, most of them are ignorant idiots……on the phone and on drugs…..
Obviously an eye witness. What happened?
So you where ther then when you get a parcel delivered hope you say that to the driver I doubt it
So true
Saw a van this evening parked on DOUBLE YELLOW LINES along Melville Street in
Sandown causing an obstruction and making it UNSAFE for motorists and pedestrians
THERE IS NO LAW AND ORDER ON ISLAND ROADS AND STREETS
MOTORISTS DO WHAT THE FCUK THEY LIKE
Why don’t IW Council Enforcement Officers give them a ticket!!
ALSO MANY FCUKERS PARKED ON THE PAVEMENT OUTSIDE YUMMY TUMMYS ALONG
REGENT STREET SHANKLIN
NO LAW AND ORDER ON ISLAND ROADS
They were there again last night
Lanesco vans, they should know better they are not working
just parked all day and night causing a blind spot for pedestrians and other
Motorists.
Where are the IW Enforcement Officers
Useless B’stards.
Pass your evidence to the supermarkets, Royal Mail and all the other companies that employvan drivers I’m sure they’d like to know what their drivers are up to.No evidence? In that case, don’t post stupid comments.
This lane is narrow and lots of bends. Such lanes ought not be tarmac’d as speed limits do nothing but even deeper pot holes might
Also need the speed camera back on Victoria Avenue bridge as few do 30 there or anything near to such
Speed Cameras are desperately required along Beachfield Road Sandown
That will stop all the local Idiots speeding along Beachfield Road
I saw a load of Backward Locals racing along Beachfield Road this evening
doing 60mph+
IW Council will wait until someone gets killed then do something about it.
NO LAW AND ORDER ON ISLAND ROADS
Why does your sat nav send people this way instead of using the Whitle Bank main rd.??
