UPDATED: The Isle of Wight’s emergency services are responding to a road traffic collision involving 2 cars at Winford this evening (Sunday).
Fire crews from Shanklin and Newport have been mobilised to the scene on Winford Road alongside Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The road is blocked in both directions between Watery Lane and Branstone Cross.
The incident occurred at around 17:00.
UPDATE @ 17:51 – Emergency services are battling against heavy rain to assist those involved in this evening’s crash.
It is understood a Skoda and a 4×4 have collided.
Police have closed the road but local traffic is still able to navigate around the crash scene using Watery Lane and/or Forest Road.
UPDATE @ 18:35 – A woman has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hosptial following the collision, although she is said to be stable and not thought to be suffering from any life-threatening injuries.
The road remains closed.
