Beaper Shute between Ryde and Brading is being put under an emergency closure this afternoon (Wednesday) to allow a dangerous tree to be cut down.
Island Roads are sending contractors to the main Ryde to Brading road after discovering that a tree is leaning across the carriageway, posing a danger to motorists.
The road is being shut between Tesco Roundabout and Carpenters Road and will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so.
UPDATE @ 18:48 – Beaper Shute has now reopened in both directions following the completion of emergency works.

I have recently noticed a few dodgy looking trees along this route.
Better to be safe than sorry
