Yarmouth RNLI volunteers were awoken at 03:41 yesterday morning (Wednesday) to their pagers sounding as assistance was required by its All-Weather lifeboat.
Already at the scene were flanking station Calshot RNLI who were initially called out at the earlier time of 02:20 where they launched their Atlantic 85 B-Class RNLI Lifeboat – Max Walls, to assist the yacht.
It was at first thought that the casualty vessel had tangled itself on a pot marker which caused their anchor to start dragging, but after further assessment of the situation, a pot marker was found to not cause the fault.
The obstruction, which was causing the malfunction, was cleared by the RNLI crews and it was decided that Calshot RNLI would then safely tow the casualty vessel further up the Beaulieu River.
Yarmouth Lifeboat then stood down and began their passage back to the station in Yarmouth Harbour at 05:30.
