Wightlink has cancelled 2 early morning sailings on its Yarmouth-Lymington route for Thursday.
It’s been confirmed that the 06:15 from Lymington has been pulled, as has the 07:30 from Yarmouth.
The cancellations are as a result of the lack of an essential member of the crew – who can’t be replaced despite more than a day’s notice.
Wightlink say they appreciate the inconvenience this will cause to customers and that they are recruiting to fill vacancies and improve reliability.

Another cancellation because the boat was not full of customers….lack of an essential member of the crew my ass…
Here we go again. Yesterday Redfunnel. Today Wightlink. The case for building a bridge has never been stronger!
The case for you move islands is even stronger so time to start packing.
You have to be kidding, these jokers couldn’t run a tap. Why would you want to live in a prison, they don’t run a service they run a ferry for profit.
Oh no, how will we cope! Lol
They have been nominated for ferry company of the year, they must offer an excellent service and be very reliable???????
I wish our local Press would actually ask some questions in cases like this instead of simply copy and pasting the PR handouts from Red Funnel, Islandline, Wightlink, Wight Fibre, IW Council etc etc.
Why is there only one person available who can do this essential role? Why is there no contingency plan? And, what role is it that, apparently, no-one else can do?
