2 people were helped from the wreckage of an Alfa Romeo after the vehicle rolled on a country lane near Brighstone during the early hours of this morning (Monday).
Emergency services were called to Lynch Lane, between Brighstone and Calbourne, at 01:25 following reports of a single vehicle collision.
Police, fire and ambulance crews arrived on scene to find that a red Alfra Romeo Mito had rolled over and come to rest on its side, blocking the carriageway.
2 persons trapped inside the vehicle were freed by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service but thankfully they escaped injury.
No criminal offences have been identified and no arrests have been made.
The scene has since been cleared and the road is open as normal.

Just another normal day on the island roads, more idiots will be along soon..
You can’t park like that here sir!
Why not? Seems like the isle of wight ‘thing to do’
Vile people not caring for any wildlife that gets crippled driving like mad for fun on dangerous narrow roads. Sometimes it seems a shame air bags and seat belts were invented for some people as people if THEY were at more risk might, just might drive more carefully.
Maybe they swerved to miss a badger or rabbit
“No criminal offences have been identified”
What about driving without due care or attention? Careful drivers don’t roll their cars over.
Also dangerous driving, it was only pure luck no one else was involved, vehicles travelling at a safe speed do not roll over.
More bad driving on the IW
At least it wasn’t a decent car ruined. 🙂
Wonder if there’s a correlation with recent mass-‘medication’ rollouts for this sizeable upturn in rta’s ?
There’s certainly a correlation with mobile phones. Although why this one happened only the people in the car know. No criminal offences maybe but certainly some motoring ones.
I hope they removed the ferry boarding pass in case the locals torched the stricken vehicle. Lynch Lane be haunted and nobody local drives up there at night…
