37-year-old Warren Easden has been banned from getting behind the wheel for 16 months after being caught drink driving by Police, who followed him for 4 miles.
Easden, of Banas Close in Ventnor, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with 1 count of drink driving.
Liz Miller, prosecuting, told the court that the attention of Police Constable Kennedy had been drawn to a Lexus IS200. The officer observed Easden’s driving for around 4 miles before eventually pulling the vehicle over on Embankment Road, Bembridge.
A roadside breathe test was carried out which Warren failed, blowing 90. He was arrested and taken into custody where, a couple of hours later, he was placed onto the evidential breathalyser and provided a much lower reading of 59.
The support worker, who has no previous convictions and a clean licence save for speeding matters, was handed a 16-month disqualification from driving and fined £240. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge.
16 months come on he could have killed somebody. Drink driving should come with an automatic 10 year ban
“clean licence save for speeding matters” Speeding Kills as well IE not a trivial matter.
Four miles seems quite a long way to follow a driver who seems to be drink driving. I can’t imagine they would have followed someone driving well for the purpose of seeing whether his standard suddenly dropped. So why risk a drink driver causing an accident during the 4 miles?
