A Ryde man found with quantities of 3 different drugs in his possession, including heroin and cocaine, has been fined by Magistrates.
Michael Weaving, 38, of Esplanade in Ryde, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis, possession of cocaine and possession of heroin when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last Tuesday.
Ann Smout, prosecuting, told the court that at around 08:00 on 19th August, Police executed a drugs warrant at Weaving’s address.
During the search of his home, officers found quantities of all 3 drugs – along with some weighing scales – in his bedroom. Weaving was arrested and taken to Newport Police Station.
At the station, he admitted that the drugs were his and that he used cannabis on a regular basis and cocaine a few times a month. He admitted he had brought them off dealers but did not disclose who they were.
Weaving was last in court back in 2013 for an offence of the exact same nature.
Magistrates dealt with the offence by way of a financial penalty and handed Weaving a fine of £240, costs of £85 and a surcharge of £96.

Wow i bet he is skint now with that huge fine.
What was the point of this raid. He’s laughing at the law and courts.
What a joke.
A Couple of deals will more than cover this
Exactly, Pops and other posters. The way police and related services are costed, it must have worked out at ten times the fine to bring him to court. And no penalty for refusing to name the suppliers? This man and his ilk really are laughing at us, and it can only get worse. If we know the fine was ludicrous, how come they don’t?
What has become of the Isle of Wight and the justice system what a joke
What a joke no point in going to court he’s probably laughing all the way to his next deal
Financial penalties should be inline with the actual cost of bringing the accused to court. i.e. police, solicitors and prosecutors. Failure to pay should result in a prison sentence where at least some rehabilitation could take place. At the moment their is no deterrent.
If the police came near the Council’s emergency and temporary housing they’d find a lot more…
There’s no Council run temporary housing on the Island.
WOW. That fine will teach him a lesson, NOT!
Why do these bloody magistrates just give a fine? He had weighing scales so this chump is obviously dealing. Too many bloody drug pushers and users on this island now.
Instant imprisonment for drug crimes, not silly fines, probably the fine will be paid for by benefits.
Well done to the courts for sending a rubbish message to druggys and supporting the police.
