DREDGER GROUNDED IN LOW TIDE

dredgerbembridgeA dredger taking silt away from Bembridge Harbour became grounded on a sandbank yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).

As Island Echo previously reported, work has been taking place to dredge the marina and to improve the facilities at Bembridge, however bad timing resulting in the vessel becoming stuck on a sandbank as it left the harbour in low tide.

It is understood that the Split 3 Dredger was not damaged and was refloated around 18:30, before becoming grounded again between Buoys 1 & 2. It finally resumed on it’s journey at approximately 21:00 last night at high tide.
