The Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance has been scrambled to a medical emergency at a property in Binstead this evening (Tuesday).
Specialist flying doctors have joined 2 paramedic crews from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service at a residential address in Winston Avenue.
The assistance of the air ambulance was requested shortly before 19:20, with the bright yellow helicopter touching down at Pell Lane Recreation Ground at 19:45.
It’s understood that ambulances have been at the property for sometime. It’s said a lady has suffered a fall.
Assessments are now underway and a decision will be taken on whether the injured person needs to be airlifted to a mainland hospital.
Winston Avenue is currently blocked between Winston Close and Maybrick Drive whilst emergency teams tend to the patient.
UPDATE @ 21:00 – The casualty has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by land, accompanied by the helicopter emergency medical team.
The air ambulance has relocated from Pell Lane to the helipad at St Mary’s, Newport.
