The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have responded to reports of smoke issuing from St Mary’s Hospital this morning (Wednesday).
2 appliances from Newport and Ryde were mobilised to Parkhurst Road at 06:30 after a dog walker reported seeing smoke.
The first crew on scene were able to quickly ascertain that it was in fact steam from the on-site sterilisation unit.
Ryde’s retained crew were stood down as they approached Binstead. They and Newport have since returned to station.
