CROWDFUNDER SET UP FOR VENTNOR FAMILY WHO LOST EVERYTHING IN FLAT BLAZE

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help support a young Ventnor family who lost everything in a devastating fire that ripped through their flat last week. As previously reported by Island Echo, a candle is thought to have been the cause of the blaze which broke out at a block of flats on Dudley Road on Thursday night. The British Red Cross was called in to support the family, working overnight to find them alternative accommodation. It has now been revealed that the occupier, Sam Street, was bathing her children, Ollie and Esme, when she started to smell smoke. She opened the bedroom door to find the bedside cabinet well alight. Thankfully, she was able to evacuate her family and pet dogs from the property. Her partner, Shane, was at work at the time. Sadly, the family have lost all of their possessions including the children’s toys and clothes. A crowdfunding page has been set up to support the Street family with a total of £1,425 raised so far.
