Wightlink is to cancel 4 morning sailings on its Fishbourne-Portsmouth route this Wednesday (25th October).
The cross-Solent operator has announced that the absence of an essential crew member will mean the 06:40 & 08:40 from Portsmouth and the 07:40 & 09:40 from Fishbourne have been withdrawn.
Wightlink say that they have been unable to source short-notice cover for the absent members of staff and that the decision is a ‘last resort’.
All booked customers have been notified and moved to alternative sailings.

Maybe the ferry companies should sack all of these lazy malingerers and employ people who aren’t constantly sick (or pretending to be sick).

as a private company, they have no obligation to provide any services at all.

Wrong. They have been issued with an operating licence and as such are liable to run the services that they list in their schedule. They certainly can be fined for failing to provide those services or have the licence withdrawn, meaning they would not be able to operate at all.
Not good enough..this 2023 a very important service they should be supplying..
Well if everything now is run on skeleton staff, not just the Ferries but everything, then people will go sick when the kids are off school and nursery it saves money to be off looking after them yourself. People are just so sick of their jobs now.
