UPDATED: Police are attending a road traffic collision in Sandown this evening (Tuesday).
The incident has occurred at the junction of Perowne Way and Avenue Road by the railway bridge.
Island Echo understands a Renault Traffic van passed through a red light before colliding with a Peugeot.
Traffic is heavy in the area whilst recovery of the 2 vehicles is arranged.
Motorists are advised to divert via Yaverland, if possible.
UPDATE @ 18:20 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that they were called to the scene at around 17:10.
1 person has been injured, but those injuries are not thought to be serious.
