UPDATED: CRASH BETWEEN CAR AND MOTORBIKE CAUSES DELAYS IN SANDOWN

A crash between a hatchback and a motorbike is causing delays on a main road in Sandown this evening (Tuesday). Police and paramedics were called to Broadway in Sandown shortly before 16:30 following reports of a road traffic collision. At the scene, a Nissan Note and a Honda motorbike have collided with one another just opposite Sandown Dental Practice. The rider of the 2-wheeled vehicle – whose injuries are unknown – has already been passed into the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and taken to St Mary’s Hospital. The road is currently passable, albeit under give and take. Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being whilst recovery is arranged. UPDATE @ 17:20 – The involved vehicles have been cleared and the road has now reopened.
