Venturing out into the Solent in a motorboat proved more problematic than expected for the 4 people aboard, leading to Cowes RNLI lifeboat launching to their aid this evening (Saturday).
While in Osborne Bay the craft developed engine trouble. On top of that, the vessel’s anchor failed which meant the crew couldn’t stop the boat from being driven ever closer to the shore.
The lifeboat launched at 17:06 and was soon on scene. A tow was established and the motorboat taken to a mooring at The Folly on the River Medina.
Cowes Lifeboat was back on station by 18:30.
