A couple aboard a drifting RIB that had suffered engine failure and a fuel leak were taken to safety by Cowes RNLI lifeboat last night (Friday).
The couple had called for help when the RIB suffered a breakdown off Newtown.
Cowes Lifeboat launched at 21:00 and soon discovered that the casualty vessel was located between Thorness and Gurnard.
A volunteer lifeboat crew member was transferred to the RIB and the lifeboat began the long tow to Cowes, where the RIB was put alongside at Trinity Landing.
The lifeboat returned to station at 22:00.
