Reports that a yacht had suffered a dismasting off Gurnard led to the launching of Cowes RNLI lifeboat this afternoon (Saturday).
The craft in trouble turned out to be a RIB – with 2 people on board – which had engine trouble.
First on the scene was the Cowes Harbour launch, which towed it to Cowes Harbour where the lifeboat, having launched at 15:45, took over the tow and brought it alongside at Trinity Landing.
It was the first shout for new lifeboat crew member, Jason Moore.
