What do you think of your waste and recycling service? That’s the question being posed by the Isle of Wight Council as it launches its annual customer satisfaction survey. The authority is responsible for the collection, treatment, recycling and disposal of household recyclables and waste on the Island. This is delivered through a contract with its waste provider. Every year the council asks residents for their views and ideas on how the Island can recycle more and reduce its waste. Councillor Lora Peacey-Wilcox, Cabinet member for waste, has said:
“We’re asking you to share your views and experiences of waste services across the Island, including household waste, recycling and food waste collections, bulky waste collections, and the recycling centres. “It’s also your chance to give us ideas on how we can continue to recycle more and reduce waste.”
Natasha Dix, service director for waste, environment and planning, said:
“Thank you in advance for taking the time to give us your feedback on the waste and recycling services you receive. Your opinion really counts. “Your feedback from the survey will help to identify what aspects of these services you’re happy with as well as the areas which could be improved. Once the survey has finished, and of course, we will let you know the results.”
The consultation – which can be accessed by visiting this link – will run until midnight on Friday 12th January 2024. Paper versions are available by request. Direct requests for paper copies by emailing [email protected] or call 01983 823777. Paper copies will also be available at all council-run local libraries. Unfortunately, no responses received after the closing date can be considered by the council.

It’s absolutely Rubbish!!

so, they create more rubbish, by having a survey available on paper – if you can email, then you can complete online, if you can go to a library, then you can complete online there – no need for paper
it isn’t difficult natasha dix, is it
Actually a paper based solution is appropriate for those who cannot or do not wish to use a digital medium. Considering the demographic of the Island, I imagine there are still a good few people who fit that model. Why should they not have a voice? It isn’t difficult islander.
Landy – you are not really up to speed are you – if the older people cannot use digital, then travelling to the library, means they can get assistance using the online versions.
spending taxpayers money on paper, is not in keeping with the environmental objectives.
And there in your comment is why she has the job and you don’t.
wasting money on paper, is not good financial management – which is why she should up her game.
Most of us pay over £2000k a year to have our rubbish collected and they want extra to take garden waste. Like any other council charges extra to collect garden waste. This council is a total disgrace.
The biggest crooks are not behind bars, they take money off people every month
Council tax should be abolished or capped at £500.00 a year and that is too much for
what we get.
Island Services are poor, yet they are allowed to charge one of the most expensive
Council taxes in the country, what’s the betting the greedy B’stards will increase our
Council tax again next year.
Deal with the rubbish at the depot not on the door step burn what is not usable and make power from the waste .
Please stop making the population into dustmen and deal with it where it should be dealt with and stop spending lots of money on a miriade of different bins and boxes uselessly .
We are a little island next to another little island ,we will not save the world by spending time and lots of money on these pointless schemes they are all smoke and mirrors.
It’s just two bins plus food waste. When did this country get so lazy
Garden waste and large item disposal is free in Nottingham
Just an excuse not to run unprofitable crossings and put more cars on to one crossing.
The front line staff at Red Funnel must be sick to the back teeth of all this disruption – I would not be surprised to see absence levels increase as staff are just simply not willing to come into work and put up with abuse from angry customers who are being disrupted yet again.
She did look a bit fed up this afternoon when on the desk
Is that the ferry that has just come back from a service ??? 🙂
How about INVESTING in new and reliable boats and craft out of the obscene payouts to your fatcat top managers, directors and shareholders. For God’s sake give the general public a decent and proper service.
That is very inconsiderate of you, dont you understand that some people have a 2nd mansion and several supercars to finance?
Ridiculous thing to say
Not a listed company.
What a complete shambles
utterly useless
Why don’t all the media outlets advertise the fixed link campaign every time there’s a problem? As that’s the only answer to the constant problems, delays & cancellations
Its ridiculous now. Saturday the had 2 timetables running, plus cancelled. Ended up with sons friend sat down there waiting for 55 minutes! And my son in Southampton waiting for him. Sadly what they planned has to be scrapped as they were too late son managed to get over from Tangmere via bus and 2train changes to meet at just before 1. His friend was stuck there having timed busesto meet red jet that was wrong time.although he still had 55min wait for next . Are they trying to overtake wightlink?
How can they cancel such random spaced out crossings?if its it a GENUINE problem it would be boken all time
I smell bs yet again
Discraceful service
They are not random and spaced out each crossing is 60 mins + 30 mins to unload/load making an hour and a half which is the spacing between the cancelled sailings
Not defending them, but on the winter timetable, each boat leaves Southampton or East Cowes every 3 hours, quite simple really.
Half term in a couple of weeks, I bet every sailing runs to timetable. I bunch of Winkers the lot of them. Never wanted a tunnel but I certainly do now.
Just because we are an island we should not have to put up with a 2nd rate service, and over priced at that ,,,,,
Wonder where our MP stands on the iow being mugged on ferry prices??????.
About time someone challenged them , we need competion or a bridge???!!!!
Had to go to Southampton hospital today for appt thought I’d get the car ferry instead of redjet only to discover the car ferry was cancelled. Not only that but a closed shop and toilets. Fab.
Discusting shit service prices gone up so much and shitelink also crap service..
Red Funnel is 100% owned by the West Midlands Pension Fund. You can check the out by going onto Companies House website. Wightlink is,I believe, owned by 2 private equity companies. They re only interested in profit… not a public service. Write to Louise Haigh the shadow transport secretary of your concerns and frustration..maybe Labour will win.
