Nearly 4 years after his brutal death, Coroner Caroline Sumeray has concluded that Isle of Wight man Scott Cooper, who was found upside down in a shower after being stabbed to death, was unlawfully killed.
The 33-year-old was discovered with multiple stab wounds to the neck and chest at a flat in George Street, Ryde on 4th January 2022. A post-mortem confirmed the injuries were not self-inflicted.
A Section 9c ‘in writing’ inquest has this month been held, drawing an official conclusion of unlawful killing. It follows the conclusion of related criminal proceedings.
Scott Cooper’s death sparked a major police investigation that saw local man Piers Brazier charged with murder. A jury failed to reach a verdict at the first trial, and Mr Brazier was later found not guilty. He died just months after his acquittal.
Mr Cooper, who was born in Derby, had been living in Newport at the time of his death. His body was found at Flat 3, 74 George Street, Ryde.
The investigation into Scott Cooper’s death led to 3 police control room staff being reprimanded following a review into how Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary handled the incident.

Very strange people mentioned he was hung upside down i would think it would take two or more people depending on the dead weight of the body to lift someone horizontally never mind vertically would be hard work just ask funeral directors
Then the killer is let off then he dies its got to be drug related whos being poking the the big bear
