A Shanklin man whose sudden and unexplained death in 2023 led to a major police investigation died from cocaine intoxication, the Isle of Wight’s coroner has ruled.
The body of 49-year-old Kieran Grundy was discovered at his home at Scinde Crescent on the morning of 15th November 2023.
Police were alerted to concerns for his welfare at 09:13 that morning, but didn’t arrive at the scene until nearly 11:00. Attending officers discovered Mr Grundy’s body inside his garden flat.
The area was locked down, with detectives and forensic investigators called in to examine the potential crime scene.
Now, more than 2 years on from the incident, the conclusion of an inquest – held in writing – has confirmed that Mr Grundy died as a result of taking a large quantity of cocaine – a Class A controlled substance.
Senior Coroner Caroline Sumeray recorded that the cause of death was cocaine intoxication, with the official conclusion recorded as drug-related.
Mr Grundy was born in Worcester in October 1974.

And it’s taken 2 years to work that out?
Really?
