Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked to recover a dinghy that had been drifting in the entrance to Wootton Creek this morning (Tuesday).
HM Coastguard received notification from Wightlink’s cross-Solent vessel, St Clare, that the rubber dinghy was drifting unattended.
The dinghy was soon recovered and taken to the Fishbourne terminal where it was later returned to its owner who confirmed that it had slipped its mooring.
Coastguard Rescue Officers stood down shortly after the dinghy was returned.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
