A rescue operation involving the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter is underway in the Solent this evening (Friday).
Coastguard Rescue 175 has been scrambled to assist the crew of the cruise ship Disney Magic in treating a casualty – who is understood to be seriously ill – after an urgent request for assistance was received at around 19:50.
The Lee-on-Solent helicopter which has travelled the short distance to the Disney Magic’s position just off Osborne Bay has been seen circling the vessel as it prepared to lower its medically trained winchman.
The Coastguard paramedic is now said to be aboard the vessel and in the midst of treating the person involved.
A HM Coastguard spokesperson confirmed to Island Echo that the helicopter and its crew are responding to a medical emergency.
UPDATE @ 21:42 – The Coastguard Helicopter winchman – a trained paramedic – has assisted the crew of the Disney Magic to package the casualty into a stretcher in order for them to be winched aboard the aircraft.
The vessel’s 3-night long voyage – which costs around £1,500 – had only just begun at the time of the incident, with the ship leaving dock in Southampton only around 1 hour before the emergency.
It’s understood that the casualty, who is thought to be seriously unwell, has been flown directly to Southampton General Hospital. Their condition remains unknown.

Well I replied to you earlier, with a perfectly nice and reasonable comment giving my thoughts, but I see that is not here either, with no explanation as to why, So certainly not for saying anything offensive are comments being removed, but something is amiss here, that’s for sure.
