Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team have been tasked to Seaclose Park in order to secure a helicopter landing site this afternoon (Monday).
It comes just hours after the team was asked to facilitate the landing of a replacement rescue helicopter at the Newport site following a failure with an aircraft before a patient transfer last night, as first reported by Island Echo.
Coastguards, alongside several units from the police, have cordoned an area of the large field off to allow the helicopter to land an air crew who have travelled across the Solent to attend the failed aircraft, which has remained at St Mary’s Hospital helipad overnight.

Sorry, why couldn’t the replacement crew come by ferry? Far cheaper and greener.
I would think that they would be needed to fly the helicopter back home.
Flying is much more fun .
