Fears for a kayaker who left Ventnor beach and failed to return prompted a call out for Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team this afternoon (Friday).
At 15:48, Solent Coastguard tasked Ventnor CRT to conduct a search between Bonchurch and Woody Bay. It had been reported that a kayaker had left Ventnor, gone out of sight and hadn’t been seen since.
Coastguard Rescue 175 was later tasked to assist in the search but was stood down en-route when the kayaker was found safe and well at Orchard Bay.
Safety advice was given.
A spokesperson for Ventnor Coastguard has said:
“Always ensure you check the tides and weather and ensure you have a mobile phone or VHF radio”.
