The Cliffhanger rollercoaster, which thrilled thousands at Blackgang Chine for some 17 years, has been reopened this week in Margate.
Islanders were alerted to a post by the YouTube channel Theme Park Worldwide after they enjoyed a front-row ride on the coaster at its new home in Kent.
Now named Rock ‘n’ Roller, the I.E Park made, 230m long family coaster operated on the Isle of Wight from 28th May 2005 – 30th October 2022.
The support struts holding up the coaster track have been painted in a vibrant pink whilst the track and the car itself are yet to see a new lick of paint.
The Cliffhanger arrived at the park back in 2005 and became one of guests’ most favoured rides for the next 17 years. The successful reception of the Cliffhanger installation paved the way for a variety of additional attractions to debut in the parks in the following years.
Currently, the site at Blackgang that the old rollercoaster occupied is empty with no new ride expected to replace it this season.
I it is still useable, why did they remove it from Blackgang, always seemed very popular?
There are massive mechanical problems with it.
It’s running just fine in Margate!
It was the main reason why we went to be honest, Don’t fancy the new ride at all.
