A person stranded on the cliffs at Dunnose has been winched to safety by HM Coastguard following a multi-agency rescue operation this afternoon (Wednesday).
The alarm was raised at 15:44, prompting a multi-agency response involving Coastguard Rescue Teams from Ventnor and Bembridge, the HM Coastguard Search and Rescue Helicopter, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary.
The individual was winched to safety by the Coastguard helicopter and brought to the top of the cliffs.
They were assessed at the scene and did not require any further medical treatment.

Anything past fishermans cottage at shanklin is incredibly dangerous and spooky and scary don’t ever go there if you don’t know the tide times there is not much time to make it there and back. I pity the coastguards on the island but I also have much sympathy for whomever it was that got into trouble thank God for a mobile phone in this instance for the sos mayday at this time of year there is no chance or swimming back to shanklin or on to bonchurch probably even harder for a swim to safety.
This spooky desolated forgotten luccombe bay is very luring for exploration if the steps were re built maybe this would save the coastguards a lot of worry
Thank you for reading and hope everyone is ok including all the brilliant seafaring emergency services you do an incredible job.
