The Post Office is set to open a modernised Post Office within Mellish’s at 43 High Street, Ryde on Saturday 13th February at 13:00.
There will be a big change to the layout of the branch, which currently has four full-screened counters. After the refurbishment Post Office services will be provided from four modern serving positions. There will be two open-plan counters and one main screened counter, which will be open Monday to Saturday 09:00-17:30. There will also be a Post Office service point at the retail counter, offering selected services, which will be open Monday – Saturday 07:30-20:00 and Sunday 09:00-16:00.
The changes mean the Post Office service will be extended by an extra 33 hours a week, including all-day Sunday and Saturday afternoon. The branch will also open significantly earlier and close much later. This will make it more convenient for customers to visit.
The branch will close for refurbishment on Saturday 30th January at 13:00 and will reopen at 13:00 on Saturday 13th February.
Postmaster Mrs Ramandeep Kaur Dhaliwal is also taking the opportunity to upgrade her store’s retail at the same time. It is currently unknown if the well-known shop name of Mellish’s will be retained.
Adrian Skinner, Post Office Area Manager, said:
“We know how important Post Office services are to residents in this area of Ryde. We are confident this vibrant modern Post Office, at the heart of the community, will be popular. The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”
