NEARLY two months since a devastating fire that destroyed the majority of Ryde Castle, owners Greene King have said reconstruction of the property will take at least a year. 

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze, which ruined newly-wed couple Mr and Mrs  Ballard’s happy day on 17th March, however the investigation continues.

In a statement released today, Greene King have said: “The full extent of the damage to the Ryde Castle Hotel is still being investigated, but it is clear that it is extensive.

“We hope to fully reopen the hotel, but don’t expect we will be in a position to do so for at least another year. At this stage the details of the building and repair work required to restore the building has not yet been confirmed.

“All the team at the hotel have been kept fully up to date with the situation. Where appropriate they have been offered alternative work within the company or are finding alternative work themselves.”

Further information relating to the Fire Services’ investigation is due within the next two weeks.
