An investigation into a 43-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of kidnap back in August has been dropped, Police have confirmed. Police were called just before 18:45 on 23rd August to a report that a woman had been forced into a car before being driven from Newport to Cowes. Officers descended on the Seaview Road area of Cowes at around 19:35 that evening, moving in on their suspect before cuffing him and taking him into custody at Newport Police Station, as first revealed by Island Echo. The 43-year-old male from Shalfleet was arrested on suspicion of kidnap, common assault and engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour. His car was seized. Now, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that the male has been released with no further action following a review of all the evidence obtained. The investigation has been filed.
