A car has mounted a grass verge, cut straight through a hedge and ploughed into a house in Blackwater this morning (Saturday).
The incident occurred on Blackwater Hollow at around 05:30 this morning.
A black Honda Civic driving towards Newport mounted the grass verge opposite Leslie’s Garage and careered straight into a house.
The damage to house has seen windows and walls smashed as well as the front door.
The occupant of the house and the driver of the car have not sustained any injuries – with the driver and 2 passengers fleeing the scene.
Police are at the scene awaiting the arrival of both structural engineers in the short term and then recovery once the property has been made structurally sound.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“We were called out at 05:49 this morning (10th September) following reports of a single-vehicle collision on Blackwater Hallow.
Article continues below this advertisement “It is reported that a black Honda Civic had left the road and collided with a property, causing structural damage to the property.
“3 people allegedly fled from the scene. Enquiries remain ongoing at this time.
”Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting 44220369111.”
UPDATE MONDAY – Police are still looking for the driver of the Honda and their 2 passengers – 1 male and 1 female.
Hampshire Constabulary also said:
“This is still under investigation and there haven’t been any arrests at this time.”
Shame the manic drivers don’t end up with serious injuries that may make them unable to drive ever agaiin, and may then make their chavvy similar ilk pals think twice.
For as it is, the courts weak sentences do neither.
May sound harsh in this ‘be nice’ world, but if that was you partner or child hit by such ‘not idiots’ but selfish, uncaring people, then YOU would see it differently I am certain.
If they were badly injured we as taxpayers would have to fund their care, they should get massive community help orders.
If they end up NOT disabled, we fund them for their entire life anyway, and the countless ever worse clones they breed too.
If disabled they may have less clones and although costly to keep, they would not cripple innocents who would INSTEAD have to be ‘kept’
So I stick to my saying ‘shame they are not badly injured’ stance.

Rarely a day passes without yet another motor accident report on the Isle of Wight! Why so many crashes and smashes?
Too many new houses = too many people = too many cars = too many crashes, and only 1 hospital as well. Still the Isle of Wight council don’t care, they just rake in the council tax and parking charges to increase the pension pot for themselves.
1st sentence most credible, but can’t speculate on the 2nd, sorry.
Note no-one ever mentions all the chavy problem families our council import from the mainland every year, its been going on for years, there must be thousands now. Then they wonder why the crime rate is going up!!

True story! So although an increase here on the Island, it’s not as big as some people harp on about. It definitely can’t be blamed for the horrific dental and GP availability all of a sudden… but that’s another story.
“Why so many crashes and smashes?” – simple, no enforcement. If there was, a lot of this wouldn’t happen. Stiffer sentences for offenders would also help.
The sentencing is the real reason-at worst, all they get is a slap on the wrist. Wake up judges; before your families are hurt or worse.
Exactly no traffic cops over here very few fixed cameras and the mobile camera van only does his rounds for 2 to 3 months every 2 to 3 years.
Until the courts get a grip this is going to be continous and will lead to innocent deaths

When we were young, we’d play on Go-carts, BMX’s, mountain bikes & racers. Had awareness, understood speed, control & cornering ability for whatever we were riding, after the odd mishap! We all tinkered with small motorcross & trial bikes in our teens, which we were lucky enough to be able to ride at Marshall’s in Bagwhich lane. All of us passed both bike & car tests first time & to my knowledge have never been involved in a serious crash. But the youths of today stayed home playing video games, believing they have the ability to drive. Throw drugs into the mixed & the result is Dopey kids on Dope Crash Crash Crash!

It’s more of a drug thing than a driving thing. There’s many more people with drugs in their system 24 hours a day now. The law of averages says there’s gonna be accidents regardless of driving ability.
Idea: every car requires a dash cam. Both recording the driver and the road.
Dash cams are £50, so no need for expensive speed cameras.
If any car is in an incident then we know who was driving and how it happened.
If at anytime it’s turned off or covered:
– car is inoperable or slows to a stop or police are alerted.
I can guarantee you it would massively reduce incidents. Particularly of these types.
Don’t want to be recorded when driving? Take public transport or cycle or walk.
People can make a start by getting a dash cam theirselves to record others.
You can get them for less than a tenner now
Gosh someone’s in for a shock when they can’t find their car – unless the driver who fled the scene was the owner and absolutely off his head on drink or drugs. Surely the police will start an investigation with the registered owner asap and get the necessary samples.
According to DVLA car was taxed 1st September 2022, MOT due 28th January 2023. Date of last V5C (logbook) issued 8th September 2022. So its possible the car was just purchased if not then stolen.

OMG! Seriously, something has got to be done and soon regarding all the accidents that are occurring on the island. Ploughing into someone’s house is horrendous. Unless this accident was caused by a medical emergency, it’s pretty safe to say the driver and car were speeding?
What the hell is wrong with drivers on this island I see and hear, speeding on a daily basis. Slow down for christ sake before people are killed or seriously mamed. Enough is enough. The roads are not racetracks.
Definitely speeding to take out crash barrier a hedge and a porch front wall of the house won’t cause that amount of damage at 40 mph

The log book was changed on the 8th of September 2022 so prob only just got it too! Couldn’t handle the 1.6ltr engine!
