Police and building inspectors were called out to Newport earlier this evening (Saturday) when a vehicle careered down an embankment and into the front of a house.
It was around 18:30 that a blue Peugeot 107 left the road at Nicholson Street, off Horsebridge Hill, and smashed into a semi-detached family home.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was called to the scene of the single vehicle collision, but it has been confirmed that no offences have been identified.
The Isle of Wight Council’s Building Control team have attended the scene to assess the structural stability of the building.
Thankfully, the damage to both the house and vehicle is cosmetic.
The vehicle has since been recovered.

Seems to be a summer of single vehicle collisions.

Speeding on Island Roads seems to be an island
speciality, it’s rife!
Well you know the answer?’move”!just saying .
Interesting that the police say no offences have been committed, so we must assume that the driver played no part in his/her car leaving the road. Barely a week seems to pass without a report of a car leaving the road and I’ve yet to read of anyone being charged with driving without due attention, careless or dangerous driving. Has these been expunged or can’t take police be bothered. For whatever reason, these needless ‘ accidents’ end up costing us in increased insurance charges. A bit like Council Tax and all the other governmental ways of making us pay.
Well said, it takes a mainlander to speak the truth.
