Buying a property on the Island has become quicker and simpler for everyone.
As part of its digital transformation, the Isle of Wight Council has worked with HM Land Registry to transfer its local land charges (LLC) service to their national digital register.
The LLC Register (https://search-local-land-charges.service.gov.uk/) allows users to search information online instantly, enabling buying decisions to be made earlier in the conveyancing process.
Most local land charges are restrictions or prohibitions on the use of property or land, such as some planning permissions or listed building status. A search of the national register will reveal whether a property is subject to a charge, and enable the buyer to make an informed decision about the purchase.
The council transformation supports wider government priorities to make property transactions quicker, simpler and cheaper.
Anyone can access the register’s search for local land charges service. Business customers can also access it through their HM Land Registry portal account or Business Gateway.
Users of the national register can download a personal search free of charge or buy an official search for £15. This will allow unlimited repeat searches for 6 months. All information is delivered in a standard easy-to-read format, with geospatial maps.
Buying a home can take several days, weeks, or even months before you find what you love. If you are living in Florida, you can find some of the best houses Florida sale on eXp Realty today.
Councillor Ian Stephens, deputy leader and Cabinet member for digital transformation, said:
“We are pleased to be among the early adopters of the new register, which enables our customers to benefit from a transparent user-friendly service”.
The Isle of Wight Council will continue to manage CON29 enquiries and customers responses, as this element of the register has not transferred to HM Land Registry.

The link to the site doesn’t work, saying it is not a secure connection.
is it the right address?
i managed to get onto the site. Searched my house but when found and clicked for more info I got the information for my neighbour’s house instead,
Oooh goody, about time. It could be renamed the ‘Isle of Wait’ !!!!!!
What would be beneficial is being given information on whether a top councillor or developer lives nearby.
Then the potential buyers could feel reassured that the area would not be filled with social housing or have a young adult assisted living doss house suddenly appear.
How fabulous to get the blessing of the IWCs very own ‘Member for Digital Transformation’ when the council can’t even get its own website revamp done on time……….
As for making house purchases quicker, well not really if the purchaser is then relying on some Isle of Wight solicitors. My IoW solicitor was absolutely useless with my house purchase and subsequent enquiries to other ‘service users’ of that particular firm showed equally abysmal performance from the same solicitor.
As for any discounted or more £efficiencies, well I doubt very much they would be passed on to any prospective purchaser would they??
There are far too many other myriad parts and processes of the house buying puzzle/fiasco to navigate in this country for this to have any positive effect whatsoever in the overall purchase/sale. The biggest change would be to require searches to be done in a shorter time frame, mortgage applications in shorter time frame and crucially Solicitors compelled to complete the conveyancing in a MUCH shorter time frame rather that when they can be ar*ed. I have directly found multiple times the Solicitor is usually the bit that goes wrong.
Yep the last Solicitor i used nearly lost me my sale
Usless bunch Gl….vils
Never again
And with in 10 minutes of competition i had a email bill from them
Better off getting a mainland solicitor to do the work for you
CON29 Classic
Customers ha Classic
Chargers ha ha Classsssssic
So we sell our hone and we are their costomers so i take it thats were the CON 29 comes in ready to charge us to sell our property
If the Council had a hand in this, then it won’t work and cost a darn fortune for us, a bit like FB6 and their so called web site.
I don’t know any Islanders who can afford a house in the town or village they were born. Some of us are lucky and our families didn’t sell out to retirement burdens or holiday plague. The rest are doomed.
