A burst water main in the centre of Ryde is causing disruption to local bus services this afternoon (Friday).
Water is flowing down the road at Garfield Road, between the High Street and Victoria Road.
Part of the carriageway has been lifted by the force of the water.
Southern Vectis say that Routes 4, 9 and 37 will divert from Ryde bus station via Dover Street, Park Road, Monkton Street and St John’s Road to West Street.
Route 37 will turn left, whilst Routes 4 and 9 will turn right then as normal. Outbound routes will not serve Cross Street or John Street until further notice.
It is unclear at this time if the road will be closed to all motorists.
Southern Water nor Island Roads are currently in attendance and the road remains open.
UPDATE @ 20:55 – Southern Vectis has confirmed that buses have now resumed a normal route and are once again using Garfield Road.
