A main road in and out of Ryde has been closed this morning due to a burst water main, which has flooded the road.
Drivers were forced to drive through up to a foot of water at Ashey Road just before The Pondarosa after the burst pipe sent water gushing down the road, formally a flood in a dip in the road.
The road has now been closed between Smallbrook roundabout and Brading Down Road to allow Clancydocwra, on behalf of Southern Water, to make repairs.
UPDATE @ 11:25 SUNDAY – Due to the damage caused by the burst water main, Ashey Road remains closed until at least tomorrow (Monday), according to Island Roads.
