Crews from Freshwater Fire Station have tackled a fire in the open at Golden Hill in the West Wight this evening (Thursday).
1 pump and a water carrier were mobilised to a wooded area near Norton Green, Freshwater sometime before 18:30.
Upon arrival of firefighters it was discovered that a number of tyres were being burnt, producing a thick black smoke.
Main jets were used to bring the fire under control and damp down the affected area.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have now stood down from the incident.
