Rumours that Sandown’s Broadway Park Hotel could be turned into a film studio have been dispelled by the company in charge of the 104-bedroom establishment.
Supposedly the hotel – based on Melville Street – had recently been sold to a company who planned to use it as a ‘film studio’. However, Island Echo has received confirmation that this isn’t in fact the case.
Instead of being sold, the hotel is to close for the final time this year on 3rd November. Coast & Country says that the hotel is set to re-open again in March 2024 and has already received substantial bookings ahead of that reopening.
Those in charge say that the closure is in line with what has been the case in recent years and that it is the most viable solution to maintain the business.
As previously reported by Island Echo, in May this year the hotel was put back on the market with a guide price of a paltry £4,000,000.
A spokesperson from Coast & Country Hotels has said:
“Hospitality is seasonal in nature and, as has been the case in previous years, the Broadway Park hotel is set to close for the winter months, with the significant drop off in trade always making temporary closure the most viable solution to maintain the business. The hotel is scheduled to reopen in early March for the start of spring trading and already has significant business on the books.
“The hotel, along with the rest of the Coast & Country Hotel Collection’s portfolio, is currently on the market – something that was announced earlier in the year.
