47-year-old Simon Edney has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place and threatening behaviour following an incident in the heart of Brading yesterday evening (Monday).
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police were called to the High Street at around 16:45 when concerned members of the public reported seeing a man in the middle of the road with at least 1 knife.
Mr Edney, of Lower Furrlongs, was arrested at the scene and taken to Newport Police Station for questioning. He has since been charged with 2 offences; possession of a knife in a public place without lawful authority or good reason and threatening behaviour.
He has been released on bail to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 22nd November 2019.
