A section of Rowborough Lane in Brading – the main road between Ryde and Sandown – is to close for 3 days this week while essential resurfacing work is carried out by Island Roads.
The improvement works will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with the scheme focussing on the stretch between the junction with Carpenters Road and the Railway Bridge.
The road, which connects Ryde to Brading and vice versa will be closed daily between 09:00 and 16:00 while work is undertaken. Outside of those hours, the road will reopen under temporary traffic lights.
Ryde traffic wishing to get to Brading is expected to be diverted through Ashey.
An Island Roads spokesperson has said:
“We recognise that these works may cause some inconvenience for residents and businesses but those who use the road will know improvement work is necessary and we hope any disruption will be offset by the long-term improvements we are making.
“We would like to thank you in advance for your assistance in enabling us to complete these works.”
Island Roads has warned that the planned dates could change due to factors such as poor weather or unexpected ground conditions encountered on site.

Which genius scheduled these works to coincide with the Avenue road works that rely on if for the diversionary route out of Sandown?
There are no geniuses on Island Roads
