Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at Seaclose Park in Newport this morning (Wednesday).
Emergency services were called to Seaclose Park off Fairlee Road at around 10:30 following the discovery of a body within a building.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service rushed to the scene but could not save the individual’s life.
Detectives from Newport CID have been at Seaclose this morning alongside a large number of uniformed officers, but Islanders shouldn’t be alarmed.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has told Island Echo:
“We were called at 10.12am this morning (11 March) following the discovery of a man’s body in a building near Seaclose Park, Newport.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner”.
It is understood the man was employed by the Isle of Wight Council.
