A yacht has been towed to safety by a lifeboat crew after losing its rudder whilst at sea on the Solent this afternoon (Sunday).
HM Coastguard tasked the crew of Gosport Lifeboat to assist the vessel off Cowes at around 11:30 this morning. The crew put the sailing vessel under tow and brought it to safety in Cowes.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team, who had also been tasked to assist met it and helped to secure the vessel upon arrival its at Shepherd Wharf Marina.
Further assistance was then offered to the crew of the boat. Teams stood down shortly after.
