Barratt Homes, the largest builder of new homes on the Isle of Wight, is set to celebrate the 80s in style with sponsorship of music festival Jack up the 80s.
The festival, now in its third year, is due to be held at the Garlic Festival field near Newchurch on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th August and is expected to attract an audience of thousands.
Pop lovers will be knocked out by a strong line up of 80s musical fare like Go West, Brother Beyond and headlining band ABC, famous for their legendary album Lexicon of Love.
The housebuilder was keen to support the family friendly festival because it raises awareness for the island charity Wight Crystal. Wight Crystal provides a programme of activities supporting people with physical and learning disabilities, autism and long term conditions within the local community.
Barratt, which is currently creating new communities at Bluebell Meadows in Newport and Hawthorn Meadows in East Cowes, is committed to working with a range of organisations where it is building homes.
Sales director Michelle Storer said:
“We’re thrilled to have signed up to be community partner and sponsor of this terrific event,’’ she said. “What we particularly like is that this show is on the island – for islanders. Our main aim is always to build homes and communities where people want to live. We take our responsibilities to the community very seriously so this sponsorship fits perfectly.”
Sarah Moss, one of the Jack up the 80’s organisers, said:
“Over the past three years Jack up the 80s has gone from strength to strength. We see this as a local festival for local people.
“To attract a prestigious sponsor like Barratt Homes is a real feather in the cap for everyone who has worked so hard to establish this in the Isle of Wight festival calendar. We are thrilled and delighted to have them on board. It’s going to be brilliant fun!”
