The Balcony in Ryde will now open longer at the weekend after the Isle of Wight Council adjusted the nightclub’s licensing conditions.
Once a noise limiter is installed, the popular club, located above Superbowl on Ryde Seafront, will remain open until 02:30 on both Friday and Saturday nights.
Local residents objected to the plans due to reported anti-social behaviour, however it was noted at a meeting with the Isle of Wight Council’s planning sub-committee that crime had reduced under the new ownership and that anti-social behavior incidents did not match to the alleged amount of incidents put forward by those objecting.
Philip Day, acting on behalf of Isle of Wight Bowling Ltd, made assurances drunks trying to get in to the Balcony would be turned away and that residents would not be disturbed by noise from the club.
