The driver of a suspected stolen vehicle has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence following a crash in Ryde tonight (Thursday).
At just before 21:20, a grey Ford Focus ST collided with a parked Citroen at the bottom of Harding Road in Oakfield, which in turn shunted the Citroen into a van.

Recovery of the vehicles has been arranged and Police remain on scene.
Officers have gathered the car’s VIN plate and are informing the owner of the Focus of tonight’s incident.

Oh bloody hell. The island has scummy drug dealers selling their sh*t, now we have to contend with a car thief, joy riding. How the island has changed and DEFINITELY NOT for the better. Well done to the mentioned ‘members of the public’ who gave chase after this low life thief. Glad he was caught and taken into custody. Isle of Wight or mainland car thief????
Welcome to the isle of wight 😀
And we will be paying for all its scattered benefit kept mini clones who will grow to ensure the next generation are even worse
I’ve lived here for 15 years and in that time crimes are being committed that never were even in the short time I’ve been here. Drug and drink driving is getting worse. Some people these days just don’t have any morals and respect for other people’s property and safety. Dragged up by parents who never bothered or they themselves don’t know right from wrong or just don’t care if they break the law. Sorry for the owner of this car who now has to claim off his insurance. The scum bag who stole it and crashed it should pay.
I think its called “levelling up” so the island is turned into a toilet like the mainland, there is even a goverment department to make sure everywhere gets a share of the “benefits” of our diverse country.
Pretty sure this is all the crime that the anti-fixed linkers said would come if we did have a tunnel/bridge, what’s their explanation for this?
Clearly the advantage is LESS of it than there would otherwise be.
We would have even more diverse scum if we had a fixed link….numb nuts….
Next you’ll say second hand smoke doesn’t cause cancer
Such a pity the thief never perished in the accident.
A few road side scattered flowers and chavy messages of pity would soon fade and the social security would save hundreds of thousands as this sort have numerous scattered offspring ensuring cost and misery for future generations.
Absolutely agree with what you’ve said. These types are a menace and offer nothing good to the community or society in general.
I would just like to say, well done to the members of public that gave chase. Our police can’t be everywhere, but if one or two members of the public vented their anger at the low life thieves marauding around with impunity, maybe just maybe they would think about what they were doing? I would never hesitate to clout any burglar or car thief attempting to rob me with whatever was to hand, full stop.
The old school type of correction is required, but then Lawyers would claim that their client is the victim now.
No body found, then there’s no client is there………..?
Good one even better.
welcome to the selfish generation.
Great to tarnish everyone with the same brush… boomer?
That age group again!!!
Unfortunately that age group are getting older, scum dragged up by scum, our police service are not a police “Force” anymore….welcome to Woke Britain…
Great to tarnish everyone with the same brush… boomer?
So you only know that sentence?
“According to witnesses, the driver fled the scene on foot – hotly followed by members of the public seeking to stop and detain the suspect.”
Certainly not detain. Hurt, maybe.
Good on the public…let’s have more….
Fell sorry for the owner, looks to be a well looked after car. Hope they can get it fixed up.
