UPDATED: A 52-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery of a body in a garage in Northwood this morning (Monday).
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary were called to a property in Green Lane off Medham Farm Lane shortly after midnight.
The body of a 72-year-old man was found in a garage, prompting an investigation to be launched into the circumstances surrounding the death.
It is currently unknown under what offence the 52-year-old has been arrested or his relation to the deceased.
Forensic teams remain at the property this afternoon (Monday) and are conducting a search of both the garage and residential property.
UPDATE TUESDAY @ 12:40 – The 52-year-old man arrested in connection with the death remains in Police custody at Newport Police Station today.
Officers were given an extension by the courts to hold the man for a further 32 hours. He continues to be questioned.
A post mortem is being carried out on the deceased 72-year-old male today.
Further details of the incident are yet to be released.
UPDATE TUESDAY @ 21:50 – Police remain on guard outside the property tonight as the investigwtion into the death continues.
