Armed Police have been deployed to a property in Ryde this afternoon (Wednesday) over concerns for the welfare of a man.
2 officers, kitted in tactical clothing and armed with rifles, have taken up position on Player Street, between St John’s Road and Park Road.
The one-way road has been closed and pedestrians are being ushered away.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed to Island Echo that Armed Police have been deployed in relation to a call of a concern for the welfare of a man.
They say there is no wider threat to the community.
The incident began at around 16:45.
UPDATE @ 18:05 – The incident has been stood down and the road has now reopened.
It’s understood 1 male has been taken away from the property and will receive the appropriate support.
