UPDATED: ARMED POLICE DEPLOYED TO RYDE OVER CONCERNS FOR MAN’S WELFARE

Armed Police have been deployed to a property in Ryde this afternoon (Wednesday) over concerns for the welfare of a man.

2 officers, kitted in tactical clothing and armed with rifles, have taken up position on Player Street, between St John’s Road and Park Road.

The one-way road has been closed and pedestrians are being ushered away.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed to Island Echo that Armed Police have been deployed in relation to a call of a concern for the welfare of a man.

They say there is no wider threat to the community.

The incident began at around 16:45.

UPDATE @ 18:05 – The incident has been stood down and the road has now reopened.

It’s understood 1 male has been taken away from the property and will receive the appropriate support.

I’m 63 my daughter is a nurse working in Bournemouth, I can tell you she has better things to do than crime, however, you have no vision for the future….if you really think our nations will to end out of control crime has failed, you need to take a long look at reality..

At 63 he is to young to have left school at 14, could you not work that out, he would have left minimum at 16.
