Amazon World has announced the sudden death of Bert, a much-loved Red Panda.
Keepers discovered that Bert had passed away on Wednesday morning, which came as a massive shock for all at Amazon World.
Although he had experienced gastrointestinal health issues since his arrival from Gdańsk Zoo, Poland in 2020, keepers have managed this alongside the Zoo vet. There was no visible indications that Bert was unwell in the days leading up to his death.
Visitors to Amazon World will remember that Bert arrived at the Zoo during the height of the COVID pandemic. Just a year later he spent 10 days at the vets as they battled to save his life.
Despite the fact Red Pandas are mainly solitary animals in the wild, Bert’s departure has had an effect on female Xiao. Keepers are monitoring her behaviour closely and will continue to do so throughout the next few weeks.
A full post mortem investigation is being carried out to confirm the cause of Bert’s death.

So sorry to hear that
Oh that’s such a shame, lovely animal Rip Bert.
