All 5 people who were arrested by Police as a result of an incident that occurred in Binstead last week (1st June) have been bailed.
As first reported by Island Echo, emergency services rushed to Ringwood Road at 05:30 on Thursday morning to reports of a public order incident at the junction with Beatrice Close.
A large Police cordon was erected with officers present in the area for over 24 hours.
2 people – a 31-year-old from East Cowes and a 23-year-old from Cowes – sustained minor injuries and were arrested on suspicion of affray. Both have been bailed until 1st September pending further enquiries.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed that a 3rd man – a 25-year-old from Newport – had been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been bailed until 31st August.
The day after (2nd June) further developments came to light with confirmation that as part of the ongoing investigation, overnight (1st-2nd June) Police raided a property on Binstead Lodge Road and located a quantity of suspected cannabis
Following this seizure, a 31-year-old woman from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis. An 18-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of a Class A drug. Both women were also bailed until 1st September pending further enquiries.
During their time at the scene officers used metal detectors to look for any metallic evidence whilst forsenic investigators from Newport CID were called in and took away numerous possessions in evidence bags including a pair of flip flops.
Not flip flops!! So the scum descended on sleepy Binstead for the cravings….
I heard they were steel toe capped flip flops.
